What is Iridology and how does it work?

Iridology is an accurate painless technique of alternative medicine and preventive health care in which the patterns, structures and colors in the iris of the eye are examined to determine information about a patient's health.
The iris is the complex colored part of the eye located behind the cornea and around the pupil. The iris is composed of thousands of microscopic blood vessels and nerve endings which are linked by impulses to every tissue and organ in the body through the brain and nervous system. These nerve endings respond to the changes which take place in the tissues and organs of the body and manifest as noticeable changes of color and pigmentation in the area of the iris.
Using equipment such as flash lights, magnifying glasses and specially designed microscopes, iridologists examine a patient's iris and then match their findings to an "Iris Chart". An iris chart is a drawn chart of the iris in which the iris is divided into approximately 80-90 zones, each zone corresponding to specific parts of the human body.

A complete analysis of the iris reveals the inherent strengths and weaknesses of the different tissues and organs of the patient's body. It shows which organs in the body are healthy and which are over-active, inflamed, irritated or injured. Levels of toxicity and nutritional and chemical imbalances of the organs can also be assessed.
Although iridology can not reveal any specific disease, it informs the iridologist which part of the body is susceptible towards certain illnesses before the physical symptoms of those specific illnesses actually appear. Based on the analysis, the iridologist informs the patient about the preventive actions that can be taken to strengthen and cleanse the body to improve and obtain maximum health and prevent the diseases which may follow.
